The Risdon Vale Bike Collective exists to create a better future for young people.
We work with local young people to increase work readiness skills, recreational opportunities and to build healthy community around the pursuit of riding and maintaining bicycles.
Led and governed by Together Church, this program is funded in partnership with schools, neighbourhood centres, local charities, businesses, and the Tasmanian Government.
A multi-faceted initiative, we work with young people to restore, maintain and sell second hand bikes, and to build and maintain riding areas, such as bush trails and a BMX park.
Our project leader, Anthony Edler, won the Tasmanian Australian Local Hero Award in 2017 for his work in the project. The program was awarded the Physical Activity Award within the Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards in 2019.
